To PC or not to PC? That is the question!

As a gamer for many years, I’ve always taken the console route. At 40, I’ve never owned my own PC! Shocking, I know! Gaming on a PC never even occurred to me until I started watching more people on YouTube and Twitch and even then, I felt safe and knowledgeable in my little console bubble. I mean, with a PS5, why would I even need a PC?

It’s no secret that the consoles coming out are POWERFUL! With integrated software that allows you to stream from your console as well as a bunch of other cool things, moving to PC for some, may seem to be an unnecessary cost.

Why did I make the jump?

As a console streamer from the beginning, starting with the GameBoy and Super Nintendo all the way to my shiny PS5 and Nintendo Switch of modern day, with the introduction of streaming and moving in to play games such as Modern Warfare II and similar FPS games, my poor lowly gaming laptop was being strangled. To continue my way in the streaming and content creation world, it was time for an expensive upgrade to my setup.

Complete n00b!!!

Having never owned a PC, I wasn’t equipped to make a quick and informed decision. I had a budget of about £2.5k but what this would get me, I wasn’t sure. I did what I always did in the past, when unsure about tech and I asked twitter!

Well… that was a sure fire way to confuse myself. Who knew so many people had an opinion on PCs?!

  • You should build it!
  • You should stream the build
  • AMD over Intel
  • Intel over AMD
  • Don’t touch the 40 series GPU’s
  • I wouldn’t buy that brand, it’s rubbish
  • DDR5 over DDR4
  • Definitely get a top end DDR4 because it will save you loads.

These are just a FEW of the things I had thrown at me! So, I have decided to put together a little series for you all on buying your first PC!

New YouTube you say?!

This brings me into my next announcement! I am in the process of creating a new YouTube. Girls n Gadgets as always been a traditional blog and will continue to be that, however I will also be making content and video reviewing everything as well as the traditional write up!

This is a really exciting move for me and I cannot wait to start bringing you some fun review videos. As stated in my previous post, it will be more around mobile and gaming, so if you have a product, please reach out to me on hello@andrea

What now? I want to know about this PC!!!

To hear more about this journey, I will be back with more info on the things I discovered. For now, I shall leave you with a beautiful picture of the beast, Mazikeen <3
